Chris joined the practice in 1996 as a qualified Chartered Accountant. Within two years he was made Manager of the owner-managed business department providing support to both Clive Owen & Co`s incorporated and regulated clients. In 2003, he was promoted to Associate with the firm. Chris manages the department responsible for Not for Profit sector including educational establishments and charities. This includes five academies and a number of other educational establishments, together with over twenty-five charities with a turnover in excess of £500,000, with the largest having a turnover of £16m.
His promotion to Partner in 2006 was recognition of his work in expanding the audit and accounts department during his time as Associate. Clive Owen & Co LLP are members of the North East Chamber of Commerce, and Chris is Chairman of the Tees Valley committee and also sits on the council, the board and the audit committee for the North East region. He is also a non-executive director of Business Link North East where he is chair of their audit committee. He is also included in the ‘Who’s Who’ of the North East.
During 2008 Chris was awarded the new ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting. Chris, partner Tony Luckett and Mary are three of only seven accountants in practice in the north-east to hold this qualification.
