HM Revenue & Customs Old Bank Accounts Are Closing - Make Sure You Use the New Ones

During 2009 HM Revenue & Customs moved its banking services from the Bank of England to Citi and Royal Bank of Scotland Group. This meant that all HM Revenue & Customs bank sort codes and account numbers changed during 2009.

Although HM Revenue & Customs temporarily continued to accept payments made using the old Bank of England account details, this will change during 2010 when the old accounts will be closed. This could result in your payment reaching HM Revenue & Customs late, which in turn could lead to you being charged a late payment penalty, interest or surcharges.

If you've not yet set up your payments to go to the new accounts please do so now. If you pay by Bank Giro, please make sure you use one of the newly issued payslips slips. If you are paying HMRC by Direct Debit you don't need to do anything. Your Direct Debit instruction remains active.

If you would like to find out more or have any questions, we will be delighted to offer any help or advice. Please contact Angela Cammock at Darlington, Nicola Bellerby at Durham or Terry Doyle at York.
