Professional firms recognise National Payroll Week

Jackson's Law Firm in Stockton and Clive Owen & Co LLP, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, in Darlington recently teamed up with the IPP, Institute of Payroll Professionals to host an event aimed at employers to celebrate National Payroll Week.

The seminar which was held at Darlington Football Club gave business owners and payroll managers the opportunity to find out about the latest legal developments associated with employment and in addition information regarding understanding payslips and the responsibilities of employers.

With further changes planned in the next two years regarding pension contributions the event underpinned the message to employers regarding payslips, their content and the legal requirements.

Both firms were keen to be involved in the celebrations of National Payroll Week. The IPP are eager to raise awareness of the profession.

Developments within the industry are imminent with the possibility of the profession looking at Chartered status.

As Clive Owen & Co have recently become the only Bacs Approved Payroll Bureau in Darlington, the event gave employers an opportunity to see the benefits available to them and how Bacstel could create time and money saving benefits for them.

Mark Foster, Partner at Jackson's said, "We were delighted to have taken part in the IPP's National Payroll Week and host this event with Clive Owen & Co. We were pleased to see so many payroll and HR professionals attend the event and we have received some very positive feedback on our employment law update."

Angela Cammock, Senior Payroll Manager at Clive Owen added", this was a very successful event where many local businesses have been able to get the latest information regarding payroll developments and also an insight into future changes that could impact upon the payroll function in their business."

Vickie Moss, Head of Business Development for IPP said", The IPP are delighted that events like this have taken place. It is essential for the profession that we promote the Institute. As so many changes are likely in the industry, it is essential that payroll teams have the support and development opportunities available through a professional body like the IPP."
