The government gateway that many businesses use to make online submissions for VAT Returns, CIS Returns and EC sales lists is to be decommissioned on 14 February 2018.
It will be replaced by the new HMRC Multi Digital Tax Platform (MDTP).
This will affect some businesses using old software that currently integrates with the gateway to make online submissions. Businesses that use the HMRC Gateway ID and password and enter data manually will not be affected by this change.
However, the login pages may appear differently.
SAGE have stated that Sage 50 Accounts V24 and V23 will get a reminder to update their software, however older versions are not compliant. For Sage Payroll they will similarly need to be on a current version to be able to make their submissions under RTI.
To find out which version of Sage you are using, click on Help at the top, click on About – and your version of Sage is shown under Program Details on the top left of the screen.
We recommend bringing your version up-to-date (V24.1) to avoid any potential issues. Older versions are not ideal and often don’t have the latest features and technological developments. This is yet another reason for business to consider Cloud accounting options which are always up to date.
