HMRC have now provided further detail on the information needed to be entered directly into the portal in order to make a claim. Whilst the information requirement is unchanged it has been confirmed how this needs to be submitted to HMRC. The requirements are as follows:

  • For employer claims where there are less than 100 employees furloughed the details of each individual employee must be entered directly into the portal
  • For employer claims where there are more than 100 employees furloughed the details can be uploaded via a suitable file attachment

As we now have more information in terms of the data volume we have now been able to set our costs for assisting with the submission of the claim. Our proposed fees per claim would be £50 (flat fee for the submission inclusive of one employee) plus £2 per additional employee (excluding VAT). We would collect this charge along with your existing payroll invoice via our direct debit arrangement.

The submission of the claim would be based on the figures that you provide us and would be confirmed with you prior to submission. If you would like our assistance with the calculation of the furlough pay amount per employee there would be an additional charge of £8 plus VAT per employee calculation. We would envisage this calculation would be done at the point of processing your payroll each month.

If you have not already contacted us and would like our assistance in submitting the claim could you respond to this email with confirmation and your preferred date for submission of your claim.

As a reminder HMRC have made it clear that businesses should keep records for at least 5 years as these claims will be subject to audit. We therefore would encourage you to keep records of your calculations, together with the furlough agreements you have with each employee. We expect that HMRC will routinely review these claims as part of PAYE cyclical visits. If you take out our tax investigation cover you will be pleased to know that our fees in assisting with any enquiry raised by HMRC under this scheme will be covered by this insurance. If you do not currently have this cover but would be interested then please do let us know.
