A team from Clive Owen LLP took on one of the Lake District’s most demanding walking routes in support of St Teresa’s Hospice.
Colleagues from the leading accountancy, business and tax advisory firm tackled The Buttermere Way, a challenging 10-mile route that includes climbs to five Wainwright fells, to raise funds for the Darlington-based charity.
The team has so far raised £900 for St Teresa’s Hospice, which provides free specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses across South Durham and North Yorkshire. The charity also offers vital support to families and carers through services including counselling, respite care, bereavement support and practical guidance.
Founded in Darlington in 1983, Clive Owen LLP has grown into one of the region’s leading independent accountancy firms, with offices in Darlington, Durham, York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
The fundraising challenge reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and charitable causes across the region.
Carl Wright, Partner and Sustainability Lead at Clive Owen LLP, said: “St Teresa’s Hospice provides invaluable support to individuals and families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Many of us have seen first-hand the positive impact the charity has within our communities, which is why we were keen to take on this challenge and help raise vital funds for its services.
“The Buttermere Way certainly put the team to the test, with five climbs packed into a demanding 10-mile route. It was also a great opportunity for colleagues from across our offices to come together, support one another and take on the challenge as a team.”
Carl added: “These charitable initiatives, many of which are inspired and driven by our colleagues, form an important part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and fostering a responsible business culture that benefits our people, clients and communities.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received and hope our efforts will help St Teresa’s Hospice continue its outstanding work for those who rely on its care and services.”
Nicola Myers, CEO of St Teresa’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful team at Clive Owen LLP for their support in taking on the Buttermere Way challenge and raising such a fantastic amount for St Teresa’s Hospice.
“Their ongoing support over the years is hugely valued. Clive Owen LLP have been committed supporters of the Hospice, almost since the beginning, and have helped us in many different ways over that time.
“The Buttermere Way is a demanding route and completing it is a tremendous achievement. The funds raised will make a real difference, helping us continue to provide specialist care and support to local patients and their families when they need us most. On behalf of everyone at the Hospice, thank you for your ongoing support and for once again going the extra mile for St Teresa’s.”
