Matt Killen
Manager
I began my career in Birmingham in the tax department of Mazars LLP (now Forvis Mazars). I completed my professional qualifications there and developed several specialist areas, mainly working with owner-managed businesses. In 2021 I relocated to the North East and joined Landstar Accountancy, a small firm specialising in Stamp Duty Land Tax. In 2024 I joined Clive Owen LLP as a Tax Manager.
Qualifications- BA(hons), ACA, CTA
I have experience across a broad range of tax issues, but particular areas of interest include R&D tax relief, reconstructions/exit planning, capital allowances, HMRC enquiries and Stamp Duty Land Tax.
Professional memberships- ICAEW, CIOT
I think my highlights are some of the great colleagues I have had the privilege of working with. In this profession, there is always more to learn and I have been fortunate to always have had fantastic people around me to learn from. Did you always want to be an accountant? Actually, I originally wanted to be a maths teacher – I even completed the qualification, so could add PGDipEd to the qualifications list above!
Hobbies and interestsI am committed to my local church (and serve as the treasurer, naturally). I am married with two young daughters who occupy the majority of time outside work!
