Apprenticeships

Start your accountancy career with an apprenticeship that combines professional qualifications, real-world experience, expert support and earning while you learn.

Earn, learn and build your career with us

You don’t need to wait until you’re qualified to start building a career in accountancy.

Our apprenticeship and trainee programmes combine professional study with hands-on work experience. They give you the chance to earn while you learn, gain valuable workplace skills and work towards recognised professional qualifications.

From your first day, you’ll be part of the team. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, develop your technical knowledge and gain practical experience through real work. As your skills and confidence grow, you’ll take on more responsibility and build a strong foundation for your future career.

An apprenticeship can be a great way to start a career in accountancy while gaining a qualification and earning a salary at the same time.

A different route into accountancy

We believe there should be more than one route into the accountancy profession.

University isn’t the only way to build a successful career. Our accountancy apprenticeships provide an alternative route, combining professional qualifications with valuable workplace experience from the very beginning.

This means you can put your learning into practice as you develop your knowledge. Rather than studying in isolation, you’ll see how the skills you’re learning are used in a professional environment and gain a better understanding of what it’s like to work in accountancy.

We offer apprenticeship and trainee opportunities across different areas of the firm, including tax, audit and accounts. This gives you the chance to develop a broad understanding of the profession while discovering where your strengths, interests and ambitions could take you.

Whether you already know which area of accountancy interests you or you’re still exploring your options, we’ll support you as you develop your skills and experience.

Supporting you from day one

Starting your career is a big step, so we want you to feel supported from the moment you join us.

Our structured onboarding programme will help you get to know the firm, your colleagues and how we work. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the people around you, understand your role and settle into your new working environment.

You’ll also benefit from mentoring and coaching during your first few months. Having people around you who can answer questions, share their experience and provide guidance can make a real difference when you’re starting your career.

As you progress, you’ll continue to learn from experienced colleagues and receive regular feedback on your work. You’ll gradually take on more responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.

We also work closely with external training providers to support you through the academic and professional elements of your qualification. This complements the practical experience you’ll gain with us, helping you connect your studies with your day-to-day work.

Learn through real experience

One of the biggest benefits of an apprenticeship is the opportunity to learn while doing the job.

You’ll gain practical experience alongside your studies and see how the knowledge you develop can be applied to real situations. Working with colleagues and clients will help you develop both technical and professional skills.

You’ll learn how to communicate effectively, manage your workload, solve problems and work as part of a team. You’ll also develop the confidence to ask questions, take on new challenges and contribute to the work of the firm.

As you gain experience, you’ll have the chance to become more independent and take greater ownership of your work.

Your development

An apprenticeship with us is about more than achieving a qualification. It’s about developing the skills, experience and confidence you need to build a successful career.

Throughout your training, we’ll keep in touch with you about your progress and development. You’ll have opportunities to discuss how you’re getting on, where you may need additional support and what you’d like to achieve next.

Your development will also happen through your everyday work. You’ll be able to apply what you learn through real client work, learn from experienced colleagues and develop your skills through new challenges.

We want you to feel able to ask questions and seek support when you need it, while also encouraging you to take ownership of your own development.

As you progress through your apprenticeship, you’ll build a combination of professional qualifications, practical experience and transferable skills that can support you throughout your career.

Recognised for our commitment to early careers

We’re proud of our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for people to earn and learn.

Our commitment has been recognised through Platinum membership of The 5% Club, which recognises employers investing in apprenticeships and other earn-and-learn opportunities.

We have also been recognised through the Youth Futures Award, celebrating our commitment to supporting young people and creating opportunities to develop successful careers.

These achievements reflect something that is important to us: investing in future talent and giving people the opportunity to start building their careers from the very beginning.

Where could an apprenticeship take you?

We see an apprenticeship as the start of your career, not simply a route to a qualification.

As your knowledge, skills and experience grow, so will your opportunities. You might develop into a technical specialist, take on greater responsibility within your team or progress into a leadership role in the future.

There is no single path that an accountancy career has to follow. Your career can develop according to your strengths, interests and ambitions, and we’ll support you as you take your next steps.

An apprenticeship gives you the chance to gain professional qualifications, build valuable experience and become part of a team from day one. It can be the first step towards a rewarding and long-term career in accountancy.
