Accounts & Business Advisory Senior Associate

We are recruiting for the following position for our York office.

Role Summary

Reporting to an Accounts & Business Advisory Manager, you will be involved in the delivery of statutory accounts preparation for a portfolio of some of the most innovative and exciting clients across our region. The delivery of your work will be supplemented using cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiencies and client delivery.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounts from a variety of clients’ systems including Sage, Xero and QuickBooks Online
  • Prepare draft corporation tax computations
  • Action queries raised by the accounts and tax managers on the draft accounts and tax computations
  • Clear review points and actioning queries raised by colleagues
  • Act as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries
  • Act as a buddy for new members of the team providing them with support and guidance as appropriate
  • Attend clients’ premises across the North-East and Yorkshire depending on office location
  • The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the role

Person Specification

Essential

  • Certificate and professional level completed at ACA or applied knowledge and applied skills level completed at ACCA
  • AAT L3 or L4 qualified or have a relevant degree
  • Recent general practice background, with exposure to accounts and/or audit
  • Be willing to learn and have an enthusiasm to pursue a career in accountancy
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident speaking to clients face to face, over the telephone and by email
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Proven experience of delivering excellent client service
  • Must have excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel
  • The ability to check work for accuracy and have good attention to detail
  • Be able to demonstrate your initiative to solve problems
  • Be flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities
  • The ability to travel to clients’ premises as required

Desirable

  • Experience of using accountancy software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Iris
  • Experience of owner-managed small to medium business accounts preparation including statutory financial statements
  • Experience of undertaking tax computations
