Can you believe it? We are in the final two months of 2025!
Darker nights are setting in, arrangements are being made for Christmas as well as New Year and plans for 2026 are afoot.
Whilst we do not wish to spoil your Christmas cheer, it is worthwhile remembering that the deadline for submitting your Self Assessment tax return for the tax year to 5 April 2025 is fast approaching.
The final date for tax returns to be submitted to HMRC is 31 January 2026 to avoid a late filing penalty. Any tax due must also be paid by the 31 January 2026 deadline otherwise HMRC will charge late payment interest (currently at 8% per annum!) and where tax is not paid by around the end of February, HMRC will also charge late payment penalties. Last year, HMRC estimated that over 1 million taxpayers missed the deadline – each then receiving £100 late filing penalties.
To help us complete your tax return accurately and on time, please send us all relevant tax information as soon as possible. This may include details of your income, pensions, investments, property, and any other relevant records for the tax year.
If you receive any communications from HMRC, including tax notices, statements, or other correspondence, please forward them to us promptly. This will ensure there are no delays in processing your return and enable us to deal with any queries directly with HMRC on your behalf.
Providing your information early gives us the best opportunity to review your affairs thoroughly, claim any appropriate reliefs or allowances, and help you avoid any last-minute issues.
If you have any questions or are unsure which documents are needed, please contact our team for guidance.
