Clive Owen LLP, a leading independent accountancy and business advisory firm, is marking a milestone year of growth at its York office, driven by a series of appointments, strategic promotions and an enhanced range of specialist services.
Our York office has strengthened its tax team with the appointment of Adam Wingrove as Tax Manager, who brings a wealth of specialist knowledge in both personal and employment tax.
Adam’s arrival enhances Clive Owen LLP’s longstanding personal tax offering with dedicated employment tax expertise, supporting clients with matters such as benefits and expenses, salary sacrifice schemes, employment status and global mobility.
Adam Wingrove said: “I am delighted to join Clive Owen LLP at such an exciting time. With tax legislation constantly evolving, it’s more important than ever to help clients navigate the changes with confidence, and I look forward to working with our fantastic team and contributing to the wider firm’s continued success.”
We are also delighted to have welcomed four new trainees to our York office: Sarah Newham, Haidar Abbas and Melissa Best, with Andy Cope joining the team at the start of 2026. Each will benefit from a tailored development programme that combines technical training with hands-on experience, reflecting the firm’s commitment to nurturing local talent and building a strong pipeline for the future.
These latest appointments follow a series of internal promotions and senior hires over the past 12 months, reflecting the York office’s continued momentum and commitment to quality.
Phillipa Symington, who joined Clive Owen LLP as Audit Partner in 2022, has played a pivotal role in embedding a strong quality-focused culture across the office. Her leadership has helped drive service excellence, team development and long-term growth.
A standout example of this is Jonathan Doyle, who was promoted to Partner in the Accounts and Business Advisory team earlier this year. Jonathan began his career at Clive Owen LLP as a trainee and has steadily progressed through the ranks, with his latest promotion reflecting the firm’s commitment to developing talent from within.
In addition, Angela Mikola joined as Tax Director in late 2024, bringing further specialist expertise to the team. Together, these senior leaders have expanded the firm’s capabilities and reinforced Clive Owen LLP’s reputation as a trusted adviser across audit, accounting, and tax.
Phillipa Symington, Partner and Head of the York Office, added: “We have experienced strong growth across our York operations over the past year, driven by the energy and expertise of our people. The welcome addition of Adam and our new trainees further strengthens our capabilities, reflecting our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients across the region.”
Established in 1983, Clive Owen LLP has grown from a small sole trader operation into a dynamic firm with offices in Darlington, York, Durham, Middlesbrough and Newcastle and a workforce in the region of 150 colleagues. The practice prides itself on delivering multi-disciplinary expertise while maintaining a reputation for a personal, client-focused service.
