Date posted: 17th Jun 2025

A leading independent accountancy and business advisory firm in the North of England has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable business practices after achieving a prestigious accreditation for the second year running.

Clive Owen LLP has been awarded Good Business Charter (GBC) status for 2025/2026 after meeting its ten essential components, covering employee conditions, environmental impact, equality, diversity and inclusion, and the treatment of clients and suppliers.

By committing to the GBC’s ten components, Clive Owen LLP, which has offices in Darlington, Durham, York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, demonstrates its dedication to responsible business growth, aligning with its core values and future growth plans.

Additionally, being recognised by the GBC coincided with the publication of the firm’s third annual Impact Report, highlighting the firm’s sustainability efforts and community outreach initiatives throughout 2024/2025, including:

  • Awarded Great Place to Work certification, highlighting the firm’s commitment to fostering an outstanding experience and inclusive culture for colleagues.
  • Raised more than £10,500 for several regional charities through a range of colleague-led initiatives.
  • Employees volunteered the equivalent of 80 days of community support to charities across the North East and Yorkshire.
  • Among the first cohort of businesses accepted onto the government’s new Fair Payment Code, recognising best practice and driving improvements in supplier payment performance.
  • Recognised as a Real Living Wage employer, ensuring fair pay for all colleagues.
  • Became one of only a few accountancy practices to be recognised as an Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Climate Champion, in recognition of the firm’s climate action agenda.
  • Achieved Platinum status under The 5% Club’s rigorous Employer Audit Scheme, highlighting the firm’s dedication to employees’ training and development.

Carl Wright, Sustainability Lead at Clive Owen LLP, said: “Being recognised by the Good Business Charter for a second consecutive year is another significant milestone for the firm, further validating our ongoing commitment to conducting business responsibly and, crucially, supporting the communities in which we operate.

“Furthermore, this latest accreditation reinforces our dedication to providing a safe, rewarding, diverse and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and development for all colleagues, while ensuring transparency and consistency across our operations.”
