The Clive Owen LLP grants advisory team is celebrating a record first half of 2025 after securing more than £25m of grant funding for its clients.
Led by Partner Carl Wright and Manager Eleanor Kay, the firm has supported over 50 businesses across the UK to access grant funding over the last six months, ranging from £40,000 to multi-million-pound awards.
The supported organisations range from regional SMEs through to some of the world’s biggest businesses and most respected research institutions. The funding will help unlock growth and increase employment as well as accelerate cutting edge technologies towards market readiness.
Founded in 1983, Clive Owen LLP has grown from a small sole trader operation into a dynamic firm with offices in Darlington, Durham, York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle and a workforce in the region of 150 colleagues. The practice prides itself on delivering multi-disciplinary expertise while maintaining a reputation for a personal, client-focused service.
The firm’s grants advisory team provides grant bid writing, grant audit and grant due diligence services. The team is particularly known for its grant bid writing credentials, boasting a success rate in excess of 90% across hundreds of applications.
Carl Wright, Grants Advisory Partner at Clive Owen LLP, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have started 2025 so successfully. Our team has worked on some very exciting projects, and it is rewarding to help make these happen by securing the grant funding that is essential to enabling organisations to progress with their plans and ideas.
“It has been a challenging time for business over the past twelve months and we have huge admiration for the entrepreneurial spirit and determination of these clients to press forward with their plans despite significant headwinds.”
Eleanor Kay, Grants Manager at Clive Owen LLP, added: “We are proud to have helped businesses access substantial grant funding over the last six months. The impact these funds will have is significant for not only these organisations, but the wider communities in which they operate due to the vast number of new jobs that will be created.”
One of the companies supported by Clive Owen LLP was Fusion Joinery, a bespoke joinery solutions business based in the North East.
Director John McCubbin said “The grants advisory team at Clive Owen supported us in securing a substantial grant from the Business Growth Fund capital grant scheme towards a new crane. This grant was crucial in enabling us to complete the investment and unlock our growth potential. The team took the bid writing process off our hands and delivered a very quick turnaround, allowing us to access the funding just before the scheme closed.
“We have now been able to acquire the crane and have pressed on with our growth plans which include new contracts and new employment. I strongly suggest that businesses seeking grant support consider utilising the expertise of Carl Wright and his team at Clive Owen.”
Carl Wright added: “There are currently multiple grant schemes available in the North East and Yorkshire and we are working with more businesses on some very exciting projects. The current funding opportunities are time limited, so we urge businesses with growth plans to act now to secure grant support before schemes close in the next nine months.”
